Water is a precious resource, essential to life and to the balance of our ecosystems. At Kerbeleg, this reality guides every decision we make. Nestled in unspoilt green surroundings, our estate strives to minimise its environmental footprint through concrete and sustainable actions. Embracing eco-responsible tourism is not a constraint, but a way of life that we share with our guests every day. From the comfort of the house to the fertile soil of our garden, every drop is respected, conserved and put to good use.
Sustainable water management inside the house
The first pillar of our approach is evident right in the privacy of your stay. We firmly believe that comfort and environmental protection can coexist harmoniously. That is why we have fitted all the showers in the house with the latest generation of water-saving devices.
These technical devices significantly reduce the volume of water used each time, without compromising the water pressure or the quality of your relaxing shower. The principle is based on injecting air into the water flow. You can therefore enjoy an enveloping and relaxing shower, whilst actively reducing the waste of purified drinking water. This invisible yet essential installation plays a direct part in reducing Kerbeleg’s overall environmental impact.
Sustainable self-sufficiency for our permaculture vegetable garden

Beyond the walls of the house, our commitment to conserving water continues at the heart of our permaculture vegetable garden. This haven of biodiversity, which provides food for our table, requires a regular and appropriate supply of water to nourish the soil and crops. To meet this need without drawing on the mains supply, we use only water from our own well.
This approach grounds us in a natural, local cycle. The well water, drawn from the groundwater on our own land, is perfectly suited to the local flora. As for irrigation, you are free to use a regulated or unregulated flow during your observations or when spending time together in the garden: the system’s flexibility respects the specific needs of each plot in our permaculture vegetable garden, whilst ensuring a self-sufficient water supply that respects the hydrogeological cycle.
Zero plastic bottles: essential for health and the environment
Our commitment is also reflected in simple yet meaningful gestures of hospitality, particularly during the hottest seasons. To tackle pollution at source, we never use bottled water at Kerbeleg. Instead, we provide reusable water bottles to all our guests who wish to use them, which are particularly useful during heatwaves. These water bottles can be filled directly from the tap as often as you like. The water is perfectly safe to drink, of excellent purity, and has no particular taste.
Although we encourage everyone to sort their waste for the most thorough recycling possible, this approach has its limits. It is important to note that plastics are only partially recyclable. Derived directly from the extraction of oil, these disposable containers inevitably end up as microplastics in the natural environment. These invisible particles pollute the soil and the oceans, eventually finding their way into our own bodies or those of our children. By choosing Kerbeleg’s water bottle and water, you are actively helping to eliminate this waste at source. Your stay is therefore fully in line with a comprehensive approach to eco-responsible tourism.
