The floor in the living room has been lowered by 10 cm to increase the ceiling height, so it was necessary to remove the highest stone on the landing and redo a ‘stone-like’ slab, as was done at the time of the renovation in 1962 for the rest of the landing, which is not made of stone but of a concrete decoration in the shape of a scallop shell, and to extend the wooden door. The result is “brand new” for the moment, but the rain and muddy soles will soon give the passageway a patina. For the door, with the invaluable help of our friend from Singapore Guillaume Chaussade, who came from Concarneau for the occasion with woodworking tools and materials, we made this door extension from reclaimed wood. Once protected and painted, the junction will be invisible.
